Antique 14" French papier mache shoulder head girl in original outfit VGC

Description

Antique 14" French papier mache shoulder head girl, ink marked on back: FRANCE, has nicely painted facial features with brown side glancing eyes, molded brown hair, accented nostrils, closed red lips, blushed cheeks. Her pink cloth hard body & limbs are straw stuffed stuffed and in good condition having two small areas on legs where fabric is thin, no leaking.. There is a small stitch repair on the left hand between thumb & fingers on mitten type hand. She is disc jointed at shoulders & hips, has a small square area on the back of her head which appears to have been part of a label. She wears a lovely original black velvet jacket trimmed in gold metallic braid with ruffled gold tulle on the sleeve cuffs and a black wool skirt with another overlay velvet skirt that matches the jacket, all elaborately trimmed in four different gold metallic mesh braid trims.  The top apron skirt is made of gold & black metallic mesh, edged at hem with gold tulle, has a colorful 1" band of satin flower embroidered ribbon. Her bonnet is made of quilted polished cotton  with a band of flower embroidered cotton  across the brim and trimmed in ecru cotton lace.  She is in very nice clean aged condition. A lovely old doll with a great outfit.
