    Description

    A Criswell Type 44 note - Third Series - One Dollar () The Confederate States of America - June 2, 1862 - S/N 83273.
    This was the first note issued by the Confederacy.  The center of the note presents a side-wheel steamship and a sailing ship.  Right is a vignette of Mrs. Lucy Pickens, the wife of the governor of South Carolina.  Left features a female representing Liberty standing by a shield.
    Signing for Register was (Miss) A.P. Pellet and (Miss) E.P. Porter for Treasurer
    This type was printed on lower quality paper.  This is a fine note with a couple pinholes and no tears.
